Huron Valley Physicians Association to Participate in my1HIE®
Bingham Farms, February 9, 2009 my1HIE® and Huron Valley Physicians Association (HVPA), announced today HVPA’s association with the my1HIE® health information exchange. HVPA will join three other physician organizations (PO’s) and participate in myWorkspacesm, the physician web portal, to improve patient care and reduce healthcare costs.

Designed by physicians for physicians and under development with Covisint for the last 2 years, my1HIE® enables physicians to share vital patient information and collaborate on patient care with other physicians and healthcare providers. my1HIE® members have access to the most accurate, real-time patient information available; resulting in better decision making and a higher quality of patient care.

“Connectivity between physicians and the ability for them to coordinate the care they provide is a key element of any effort to improve care and reform the whole care process. The absence of that connectivity and coordination is a primary flaw in the current “system” said Dr. Paul Harkaway, MD, President of HVPA. “We are excited about the opportunity to work with our colleagues to use the tools

my1HIE® offers to improve care and reduce healthcare costs by reducing medical errors and duplicate testing.” my1HIE® utilizes My WorkspaceSM, the first physician web portal offered in Michigan, to organize and navigate critical health information, which will improve healthcare. Developed to be a one stop for all your healthcare needs, My WorkspaceSM provides access to multiple clinical applications including; electronic prescribing, patient registry tools, e-labs, and HIPAA compliant messaging through a single interface. my1HIE is accessible from any location with an Internet connection and requires a single unique user id and password.

"HVPA, as a leading physician organization, recognizes the importance of e-technology to the future of healthcare,” said Dr. Steven Grant, MD, FACP, President and CEO of United Physicians. “We are pleased this elite group of physicians is joining our combined effort, which is PO driven for better adoption and success, will improve the coordination of clinical information, enhance patient care, and reduce the cost of healthcare.”

Participation in my1HIE® further supports collaboration amongst several physician organizations currently participating in the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Physician Group Incentive Program (PGIP) and assists those focusing on implementing the elements of Patient-Centered Medical Home in their physicians practices
