Detroit Medical Center to Partner with my1HIE®

Detroit, MI, July 7, 2009 -  The Detroit Medical Center (DMC), with eight hospitals and more than 3,000 physicians, has announced an agreement today with my1HIE® (My One Health Information Exchange).  The DMC commitment and affiliation with my1HIE® is further proof that technology adoption is the future of healthcare, a future that is better, safer and more efficient for every patient.

DMC hospitals and affiliated physicians will now be a part of a growing network of electronically-connected healthcare professionals across southeast Michigan.  This relationship extends the integration of the innovation Electronic Medical Record (EMR) technology, already in use at the DMC.  DMC is the first and only Michigan hospital system with 100% doctors' computerized orders, 100% medication scanning and a fully implemented Electronic Medical Records program.  This partnership extends the DMC electronic reach to Physicians across the Metropolitan Region.

"DMC was the first hospital system in the state to fully integrate EMR technology.  Our "paperless" electronic medical records system has been in place for more than two years,"  said Mik Duggan, President and CEO of the Detroit Medical Center.  "This agreement with my1HIE® gives participating physicians access to our hospitals, physicians and specialists and solidifies our place as a national leader in pioneering technology, designed to improve patient care, quality and safety."

"We are very excited to be embarking on a partnership with a medical center like the DMC that is setting the standard for healthcare of the future," said Randall Bickle, D.O., President and Medical Director of Olympia Medical Services, a leading and founding Physician Organization (PO) member of my1HIE®.  "With the DMC addition to the my1HIE® Health Information Exchange, private physicians can now be readily connected to the DMC's regional specialists to ease referrals and coordinate patient care."

my1HIE® uses a Physician Organization distribution model for easier adoption and increased success.  Physicians constantly collaborate with each other and practice as networks of physicians.  Working with physician organizations and hospitals allows
my1HIE® to bring up and entire network of doctors which will improve the coordination of clinical information, enhance patient care and reduce the cost of healthcare.

"The DMC hospitals, physicians and specialists working together with United Physicians and Olympia physician organizations speaks volumes in today's healthcare community," said Dr. Steven Grant, M.D., F.A.C.P., President and CEO of my1HIE®.  "Clinically, DMC is one of the country's leading hospital systems and is the leading hospital system in EMR adoption.  We applaud their decision to embrace the my1HIE® technology and connect their more than 3,000 affiliated physicians access to the areas largest health information exchange."

Partcipating physicians and hospitals utilize My WorkspaceSM, the physician web portal, to connect to the Health Information Exchange (HIE), share patient information and access clinical applications including:  e-Prescribing, Patient Registries, e-Labs and secure HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) compliant communication tools through a single sign-on interface.  My WorkspaceSM was designed by physicians for physicians and developed with and secured by Covisint, a subsidiary of Compuware.
